I don't know whether you know Chaïm Soutine. I saw his work for the first time 3 years ago and I was immediately overwhelmed. Even more, the painter was a source of inspiration for several works.
The exposition at "Musée de l'Orangerie" (Paris) is really a must. It gives a nice overview of Soutine's complete and divers oeuvre. You will find the tormented bodies, as well as the distorted landscapes, as the coloured carcasses. A painter, "pur sang", literally. Just ask his neighbours.
